Ombudsman leads environmental day in Puerto Escondido, Córdoba

With a planting of native trees and the cleaning of beaches in the municipality of Puerto Escondido, the Córdoba Regional and the Delegate of Environments and Collectives and the Municipal Mayor’s Office commemorated World Environment Day.

The activity, which lasted two days, began with a workshop aimed at mothers, students, leaders and women representatives of social and environmental organizations. This workshop highlighted the importance of caring for and protecting the marine ecosystem, and discussed how sustainable practices can benefit local communities, whose economy depends on fishing and tourism.

Next, a beach cleanup was carried out, where young people and adults from this coastal town joined the initiative, which ended with a talk about the rights to a healthy environment and how through small actions like these you can transform the environments in the territories.


A day later, the officials of the entity that guarantees human rights moved to the island of Tortuguilla, where together with Personería, delegates of the Municipal Administration and social leaders, they cleaned the beaches of solid waste and then planted native trees in this reservoir of flora. and fauna, which is the only island area that the department of Córdoba has.

The leaders and organizations thanked the day led by the Ombudsman’s Office and expressed that they will replicate it, in order not only to keep the ecosystem clean, but also to raise awareness among the residents and thereby generate changes in their customs regarding final disposal. of solid waste and in this way attract more tourists.
