Diego Rivarola, idol of the University of Chile, will leave retirement after 13 years out of the activity and will play again in the Chile Cup, in the amateur club Vicente Pérez Rosales, in the duel against Universidad de Concepción in the round of 16 of the South Zone of the tournament.

In dialogue with the media BolaVipRivarola, 47, told his reasons, pointing out that it is to help the southern club and also for family reasons.

“By some friends through a Foundation who invited me to participate to help an amateur club, I don’t charge them anything, the idea is to generate a social impact and get young people into sports.”he declared.

“I am clear that I am not going to compete head to head, It is more of a help to the clubto promote the party in the area, let people generate income,” he added.

Finally, he maintained that “I mentioned it to people around me, my children who hardly saw me play and they loved it. That motivated me. They pushed me“.

Rivarola, nicknamed “Gokú” for his iconic t-shirts that he wore to celebrate, had spells at River Plate, Platense, Santiago Morning (two spells), Atlas, Argentinos Juniors, Marcaibo, Palestino, Alki Larnaca of Cyprus, and three spells at University of Chile, a club where he won four First Division titles and was crowned champion of the Copa Sudamericana in 2011.
