The signing of the document took place in the presence of the Secretary of State for the Economy of Switzerland, Helene Budliger, who is visiting Chile within the framework of Swiss participation in the Exponor mining fair.

Representatives of the Chilean State Railway Company (EFE) and its Swiss counterpart, the Swiss Railway Association Swissrail, signed a Bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on the promotion of railway development.

“The collaboration between Switzerland and Chile in the railway sector is a leading example of how innovation can drive the energy transition and the development of more sustainable cities. As a world leader in rail transport and with the densest train network in the world, Switzerland looks at Chile with great interest in supporting its railway development process. This agreement offers not only the possibility of strengthening synergies between both countries, but also of promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly practices, especially in Chile., which is experiencing a promising process of expansion and strengthening of its railway network. I am convinced that the possibilities of cooperation in this sector will open new opportunities to strengthen our economic ties and address the common challenges we face,” said Helene Budliger, Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of Switzerland.
