The National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) made official the new tariff tables“transitional” that distributors must apply from this month Edenor and Edesur in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA).

The measure, which is retroactive to June 1, was formalized through two resolutions of that control body published this Friday in the Official Gazette.

According to the ENRE, in June the average bill before taxes of R-Level 1 high income users, increases on average with respect to the table in force as of May by 20%. In the case of low-income R-Level 2 users, increases on average by 93% and the R-Level 3 users increase on average by 130%.

This decision is added to another one made this week by the Ministry of Energy, through which the Power Reference Prices (POTREF) and the Stabilized Price of Energy (PEE) were established in the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM). that the distributors must use for their corresponding application in the rate tables.

On that occasion, Energy set a new price for electricity (PEST) of $59,298 per megawatt-hour (Mwh) until July 31.

Now, according to the new resolutions, the POTREF and the PEE that are going to be transferred to the final rates will have the following bonuses:

Consumption of Level 1 users (higher income) will be valued no bonus.

Level 2 users (low income) they will have a bonus of 71.92% on the price defined for the Level 1 segment.

— The base consumption of the Level 3 users (average income) they will have a bonus of 55.94% on the price defined for the Level 1 segment.

Thus, residential, commercial and industrial clients of Edenor and Edesur will receive invoices with adjustments greater than 100% during this month, depending on the category.

With the gradual removal of subsidies, middle-income households will have their subsidized consumption reduced from 400 to 250 kw per month; those with low incomes will have a cap of 350 kw. If in both cases this limit is exceeded, the full price of the energy will be paid for the surplus.
