Junín de los Andes celebrates the commitment to religious tourism: “we are the cradle of faith, due to history”

«Junin of the Andes always waits for the public. We are the oldest city in Neuquén and the cradle of faith, due to history. “Betting on religious tourism, as our Province wants to do, is an important decision that makes us proud.”

With those words, Mayor Luis Madueño celebrated that Junín is an essential part of the “Camino de Gracia”, an idea that will unite faith with unique landscapes.

The kultrún-shaped temple in the San Ignacio area. The remains of the Patagonian blessed Ceferino Namuncurá rest there.

The proposal was conveyed to several community leaders. Even It was also outlined to Pope Francis, on the trip that Governor Rolando Figueroa made to the Vatican. «Ceferino Namuncurá should be a Saint. Many believers are asking for it. the politician told the pontiff, after inviting him to visit the province. This initiative was latent in his mind. Because…What can be more emotional for religious tourism than a route that ends up visiting a kultrún-shaped temple, located in the San Ignacio area, where “The Lily of Patagonia” rests? That promise of holiness makes everything more promising.

«We have a great tool that is the work of regionalization. The important thing is planning. You have to work on it, polish it and take it forward. Improve access and routes so that this attracts more tourism and then make a presentation worthy of the proposal, which “It is a great initiative by our governor,” said Madueño, in dialogue with Río Negro Radio.

The Projected Path It would depart from the Domuyo volcano to Junín de los Andes, with the option of incorporating other destinations. During the last regionalization meeting the proposal was debated. “It requires a respectful approach to the feelings of the communities,” said Figueroa on that occasion.
What is intended is to unite, in a single tour, to the Virgin of Lourdes of the Ailinco area, the adoration of San Sebastián, in Las Ovejas, the excursion to the little virgin María Auxiliadora of Chos Malal and the visit to the blessed Laura Vicuña and Ceferino Namuncurá.

It relies on several strengths, which were identified. Between them, the asphalt of national route 40, and the paving of provincial route 23, which would bring binational links through the Pino Hachado, Icalma, Mamuil Malal and Carirriñe border crossings.
