The traditional celebration of ‘Tamal Day’ will feature the participation of 50 tamaleros from the city of Ibagué.

The Municipal Administration agreed with the city’s tamaleros on the price at which they will sell their dishes during Tamal Day, which will take place on Monday, June 24. Each unit with soda will cost $13,000.

“On the instructions of our mayor Johana Aranda, we met with the more than 50 tamaleros who will participate during Tamal Day and we raffled off the places they will occupy in the Murillo Toro park. Likewise, we agreed with them on the price of each one,” said Naydú Romero, Secretary of Economic Development.

It is worth remembering that a hangar will be installed in Murillo Park where the tamaleros and diners will be. However, apart from the city center there will be other ‘satellite’ points of sale: in Surtiplaza in the El Salado neighborhood and the La Estación shopping center.

“We are prepared, we are ready so that this June 24 all Ibaguereños and all tourists can delight in this typical Tolimense dish and enjoy this celebration, which is not only gastronomic, but also cultural,” added the official.

On June 24, in addition, the Business Folk Fair will be held at the Panóptico Cultural Complex, where Ibaguereños, tourists and visitors will be able to find a varied offer of items and services.
