The Government hopes that the decree will come into force once it has been published in an official gazette.

The National Government published a draft decree on the website of the Ministry of Commerce for citizen comments that aims to stop the country’s coal exports to Israel, and this is motivated by the intervention that is being carried out in the strip of Gaza, as confirmed by President Gustavo Petro himself in his X account.

“We are going to suspend coal exports to Israel until the genocide stops,” the president stated in the last hours.

The document establishes that the prohibitions on mineral exports will not apply to goods that, before the entry into force of the decree, have an authorized request before the Directorate of Customs and National Taxes (DIAN) and that already have the entire form duly completed before a operator.

“The authorized International Marketing Companies that, before the entry into force of this decree, had issued the Certificate to the Supplier. Legal transactions completed until April 30, 2024, which generate a legitimate expectation or a consolidated legal situation for the exporter. ”, establishes the draft as other exceptions to the prohibition.

Furthermore, the Government hopes that the decree will come into force once it has been published in an official gazette and any suggestions that citizens may have on the Ministry of Commerce website have been adjusted.
