The Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti performed more than 4,700 free surgical interventions in May, a service that today contributes to improving the quality of life of the people of this Caribbean nation.

According to a report to which Prensa Latina had access, in the fifth month of 2024, 4,711 procedures of this type were carried out, of them, 1,018 major and 3,693 minors.

The document specifies that 3.6 minor surgeries are performed for every major intervention.

The monthly plan in this medical section is 3,419, and it is overfulfilled by 138%.

This report points out that the figure of 43,680 operations is set for 2024.

Until May, 18,131 interventions were to be carried out, and 22,528 were carried out. Now 21,152 are pending to close 2024.

When referring to major surgeries, compliance is 119.7% and minor surgeries are 143.7%.

Cuban doctors in Haiti performed hysterectomies, cesarean sections, ectopic pregnancies, inguinal herniorrhaphies, hydroceles, appendectomies, among other operations, in addition to emergency surgeries.
