Through an ordinance of the Departmental Assembly of ChocóThe youngest municipality in Colombia was created: Nuevo Belén de Bajirá,the same one that this Sunday celebrates its first elections for mayor and Council.
Henational registrar, Hernán Penagostoured the polling stations and polling stations,verifying the readiness for the closing of the polls, where the pre-counting of the votes has already begun.
“Colombians will be able to follow through the National Registry pagethe progress of the pre-count,The scrutiny committees are also ready. With guarantees, we increase citizens’ confidence in the National Registry,” said Penagos.

For its part,the governor of Chocó, Nubia Carolina Córdobaon his social networks highlighted what is happening in this new municipality and assured that it is a milestone “not only for Bajirá, but for all the Chocó people, who have fought for the vindication of our territorial integrity for more than 24 years. ”.

It is worth remembering that the registrar Hernán Penagos delivereda piece of tranquilityafter a meeting at the Unified Command Post, PMU, in the municipality of Nuevo Belén de Bajirá.

Total,8,972 citizens were eligible to vote in these elections.The National Registry Office installed 31 voting tables, distributed in 11 positions, one in the municipal seat and 10 in the townships.
Furthermore, for these elections they were appointed231 voting jurors186 starters and 45 remnants.
