The train will be another transportation alternative, not only for the workers who travel daily through the Alto Valle corridor, but also for more than 25 thousand university students who regularly travel to the different centers and houses of study.

Weeks ago, the Minister of Public Works and Services, Alejandro Echarren, the president of Tren Patagónico SA, Roberto López and the Secretary of Transportation, Juan Ciancaglini, carried out the corresponding steps before the Nation and Ferrosur to request the extension of the comprehensive concession to the Tren Patagónico SA. of the use of roads.

“The idea is to reinforce the transportation system of the Alto Valle, because they are cities that are growing a lot in population and the train would be a valid and attractive service to decompress traffic and also a more economical alternative transportation,” reported the minister.

“We were making several arrangements with Ferrosur and they authorized us to begin carrying out the technical survey, so the Patagonian Train team took care of that, which made a tour and inspection of the entire layout of tracks and stations. Everything that is rolling stock is also being analyzed and it is being evaluated if training can be generated that allows us to cover the Chichinales-Cipolletti route,” explained Echarren.

The Tren Patagónico SA will send a detailed study to the Nation this week on the state of the tracks and stations.

From the report it is clear that the Province must previously make a maintenance plan for the railway tracks and resolve issues related to safety at railway crossings in cities and recovery of Station buildings.

Subsequently, the Province must wait for authorization from the Nation for the transfer of passengers in the Chichinales-Cipolletti corridor. The possibility of sending a locomotive car by SOFSE, the State Railway Operator, to cover the route has not been ruled out.
