Carabineros detained 80 people and recovered seven stolen vehicles this weekend in Tarapacá

This weekend, Carabineros from the Tarapacá Zone managed to recover seven vehicles ordered for theft in the different preventive and operational services deployed in the region.

According to the balance provided by the institution, between 6 p.m. on Friday and early today, 80 people were arrested, including 5 for receiving a motor vehicle, managing to recover the stolen vehicles and deliver them to their owners.

Additionally, 11 people were arrested driving while intoxicated, 9 for public fights, 9 for domestic violence, 6 for threats and 4 were driving under the influence of drugs, among others.

A compressed air weapon, two knives, more than 3 kilos of drugs and contraband alcoholic beverages were also seized. Regarding preventive work, 1,002 controls were carried out and 135 traffic violations were issued.

Arrested for kidnapping

As part of the weekend’s work, four people of Colombian nationality were arrested early Saturday morning for the crime of kidnapping, who in the early hours of the morning and in coordinated action with the citizen security personnel of the municipality of Alto Hospicio .

After making contact with the complainant, who was being asked for money to release her partner, the search for the individual began, which ended when the cell phone in which they were traveling lost control and crashed, at which point the victim fled the scene, arresting the captors and recovering the species that had been stolen from him.
