What seemed like a religious celebration ended in tragedy in the Imbangui village, in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Barbacoas, Nariño, after the batteries that supplied energy to a solar panel complex exploded, causing injuries to at least 15 people, including three minors.

According to Blu radio, the incident occurred after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, when dozens of people attended a religious meeting.

In his story, the community spokesperson stated that the solar panel system gave power to the internet network in the village and There was a blackout and, when power returned, an overload occurred which, apparently, causedeither the explosion of batteries.

According to the report from the ESE San Antonio de Barbacoas, 15 were injured, of which 3 are children and one woman. These people are the ones who register the serious case and they were referred last night to a hospital in Tumaco.

A spokesperson for the community, who asked that his identity be kept confidential, said that the Imbangui village is at least 45 minutes from the town center of Barbacoas on the banks of the Telembi River.

Relatives of the affected minors asked for the support of the health authorities to be sent by air from Tumaco, due to the closure of the road as a result of the heavy rains that have fallen in the area. which caused the slide of mud and stone on the national highway, near the municipality of Ricaurte, in the coastal foothills of Nariño.
