At the request of a prosecutor of the Specialized Directorate against Drug Traffickinga guarantee control judge imposed measure of deprivation of liberty to four alleged members of a criminal network, dedicated to transporting tons of cocaine through the Colombian Caribbean destined for Spain and other European countries.

The individuals affected by this court decision are Arles Velasco Arenaswho presumably served as logistics coordinator; Alejandro Quintero Marín, identified as one of the transporters of the narcotic; and Carlos Arcesio Vargas Hurtadoaccused of alerting authorities about police movements and facilitating the transportation of shipments.

Likewise, the process has been linked to Arcesio Vargas Quiroga for his alleged participation in the illegal transportation of narcotics through land route for this organization, already being deprived of liberty in relation to another investigation.

According to what was established during the investigation, the cocaine left the illegal production areas in Cauca, hidden in special compartments of tractor-trailers, bound for Cartagena and Arjona (Bolívar)to then be sent via maritime to the Iberian Peninsula, specifically to Spain.

The alleged suspects were captured by CTI agentswith the support of the American agency DEA, in operations carried out in Dosquebradas (Risaralda), Yumbo and Palmira (Valle del Cauca). The Prosecutor’s Office charged them, according to their level of responsibility, with the crime of aggravated trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics.

In relation to the charges, Vargas Hurtado, Velasco Arenas and Vargas Quiroga have accepted their responsibility, while Quintero Marín has chosen not to admit his participation in the events.
