The Government of Atlántico announced the delivery of the first 3,000 housing improvement subsidies of the program ‘My Bacana House’.

This announcement was made by lto Undersecretary of Departmental Housing, Rocío Jiménezafter a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Housing at one of the technical tables that have been held to coordinate the implementation of the program.

In the Atlantic, subsidies of up to 12 minimum wages will be provided for urban areas and up to 18 minimum wages in rural areas.

At this meeting, it was agreed that the beneficiaries will be selected from the lists provided by the municipal mayors, based on compliance with certain requirements.

During the administration of Governor Eduardo Verano, A total of 10,000 housing improvements are expected to be allocated, with an investment that exceeds 51,000 million pesos.

“After this working group, we have important news: in the Atlantic, subsidies will be delivered up to 12 minimum wages for urban areas and up to 18 minimum wages in rural areas. With this, the benefited inhabitants of our department will be able to improve their quality of life. We are going to improve their bathroom, kitchen, floors and roof,” said Jiménez.

The program ‘My Bacana House It contemplates two modalities of improvement: Locative and Housing Extension Modules. The Locativo modality will focus on improvements to bathrooms, kitchens, floors and walls in both urban and rural areas. The Housing Expansion Modules modality, for its part, will focus on the comprehensive construction of bathrooms and kitchens exclusively in rural areas.

The Government of Atlántico will be in charge of nominating potentially beneficiary properties to the Ministry of Housing, which will be presented by the municipal mayors. Once compliance with the requirements has been verified, the Ministry of Housing will enable the homes to begin the improvement.

The selected neighborhoods or sectors must have initiated legalization processes and not be in areas of high non-mitigable risk, natural resource protection areas or public works reserve areas. The properties must have access to drinking water service.

The requirements that must be met to access the subsidy

The municipal mayors’ offices, in collaboration with the Government, will be responsible for selecting the households that meet the requirements to apply.

These requirements include: presenting a valid identification document, not being the owner of another home, being the owner or possessor and living in the nominated home, which must meet habitability conditions and minimum quality standards, not exceeding the value of a Social Interest Housing (VIS), and household income must not exceed four minimum wages.

In addition, the home must not have received a family housing subsidy in the last ten years.

“By starting with 3,000 of these housing improvement subsidies, we bring important news for Atlantic residents. From now on, we begin, together with the mayors and the Community Action Boards, committed to the department to improve housing, to contribute to a decent life and to have a great home,” added the Atlantic Undersecretary of Housing.

Undersecretary Jiménez recalled that the “Mi Casa Bacana” program has three components: complementary subsidies to acquire housing, 10,000 subsidies for housing improvement and the delivery of property titles, which have already begun to be awarded to its beneficiaries.

“We hope that the mayors arrive at our offices to begin the entire process, as has been done until now, so that Atlántico becomes a department of owners,” Jiménez pointed out.
