Juan Carlos Aguilar, a man who was the victim of a violent assault last Thursday at the Producers and Suppliers Market, recounted his experience to the Santa Fe Police program.

“It was a ‘delivery’ by the same people from the Market,” he said without hesitation. “I didn’t finish parking the car because they were already on top of me, hitting me with a rifle butt and shooting. This is the responsibility of the Market,” he declared.

The incident occurred in the western section of the Market, where Aguilar entered from the Recreo side. As soon as he stopped his vehicle, he was attacked by two men. “This was clearly a betrayal. I insist that the Market is responsible. Nobody protects us,” he said.

The Market, according to the interviewee, does not guarantee the safety of buyers or stallholders. “There are cameras and security, but how is it possible that they come in with weapons? They were inside the market waiting for me,” he lamented.

Illegal activities

Juan Carlos Aguilar also denounced the presence of illicit activities within the property, such as the sale of drugs, weapons and prostitution. “This is a joke and no one does anything. “The Market managers blame the Municipality,” he expressed indignantly.

“We are exposed daily to robberies and violence. Until a misfortune occurs, they will not take the necessary measures,” said the fruit and vegetable producer, who survived the attack after a violent confrontation with the assailants. “After nine shots, I tell it because I tell it, but this has made me want to work.”

Finally, Aguilar expressed his intention to leave the market and seek safety in other cities. “My decision is to go to Rosario or Córdoba, where I have the security that I don’t have here. In this Market, everyone washes their hands,” he concluded.
