An infinite chain of insecurity. A “record” that no citizen would like to have. The odyssey that a taxi driver from the city of Córdoba suffered last Friday ended up becoming a crushing description of the worst insecurity. Territories left to their own (bad) luck.

According to the data handled at the level of the judicial investigation led by prosecutor Tomás Casas and those provided by those close to the victim, Cadena 3 was able to reconstruct an almost incredible sequence of robberies that occurred just minutes apart.

Last Friday, around 5:00 p.m., the taxi driver took a co-worker to Villa Posse, in the southeastern area of the capital of Córdoba. A sector located in a periphery that is not only geographical.

There, at the height of the social sports center that the provincial government set up with the proclaimed objective of removing children and young people from drugs and crime, a solitary thief approached her when her companion had already gotten off.

At gunpoint, the criminal forced her to take him to the nearby Cooperativa 16 de Abril neighborhood, through the so-called Camino a Villa Posse. Always under threats, the assailant told her where to go, until he forced her to stop at a corner in that sector, near Block 17.

There, the thief opened the driver’s door, took his cell phone and wallet and ordered him to run.

But nothing ended at that moment. It was then that a group of at least three criminals, who were in the vicinity of that corner of Cooperativa 16 de Abril, upon observing what was happening, approached the taxi and assaulted the first thief. Yes, criminals robbed another criminal.

They took the loot and the weapon he was carrying.

Given this, the first thief managed to sit in the driver’s seat and accelerated the taxi to escape. He almost ran over the taxi driver herself who was still running and ended up hitting a Peugeot 206 that was parked.

The roar of the crash made the owners of 206 and other neighbors look out onto the street, who prevented the thief from escaping from there. They held him until the police arrived.

But another group of criminals appeared. In the midst of the chaos, someone took the key to the damaged taxi, opened the trunk and took the spare tire.

Darío, the owner of the taxi, when he arrived in the area, tried to call a tow truck to take away the crashed car, but the police officers who were already in the area told him no. Because if a private tow truck entered, they told him, it was very possible that it would also be attacked.

In order to remove the taxi, it was necessary for the Infantry Guard to station a special device in that neighborhood and for a police tow truck to arrive, which ended up taking the vehicle away.
