The Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta has confirmed the authenticity of a recording that shows an almost two-meter-long alligator on a beach near the Simón Bolívar airport. The shocking images, which have gone viral on social networks, have generated great commotion among residents and tourists in the area.

The discovery was made near the airport, and environmental authorities suggest that the reptile may have come there in search of food. The director of the Administrative Department of Environmental Sustainability, Paola Gómez, explained that the recent rains and the cleaning of the canals could have facilitated the movement of the alligator to the beach.

Local authorities have deployed a team of experts to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of citizens and the animal itself. The population is recommended to avoid approaching the alligator and report any additional sightings to the corresponding authorities.
