Traffic remains disabled for all types of vehicles at the Cristo Redentor International Crossing. The closure has been going on for several days and there is discontent among stranded Mendoza residents and transporters.
El Paso International, Cristo Redentor System made the decision on last Friday to maintain the “preventive closure” due to weather conditions.
Weather in high mountains
El Paso will remain closed. The temperature first thing in the morning in Uspallata is 0 degrees Celsius; in Punta de Vaca, -2°; in Puente del Inca about -5°; and in Las Cuevas it is -6°.
As they expressed, the weather conditions that have taken place in recent days force the authorities of the Christ the Redeemer Pass to carry out daily evaluations of the traffic conditions for the opening of the border that connects Argentina with Chile.
The Integrated System advises those who plan to cross the border to consult official channels before embarking on a trip to the high mountains since unfavorable conditions will continue in the coming days.
