The Youth Agency plans actions against digital gambling

As part of the actions carried out by the government portfolio, within the framework of addressing online betting carried out compulsively by young people, the Youth Agency continues working on the projection of actions with different State agencies and actors involved in the issue.

In this sense, the Director of the provincial body, Tane Da Souza Correa, held a meeting with provincial legislators who presented a project in the Chamber of Deputies, which seeks to implement actions to visualize, raise awareness and prevent gambling addiction for young people, girls, boys and adolescents. The initiative has half a sanction, and went to the Senate for study and subsequent treatment.

Together with Representative Mónica Juárez, progress was made in the coordination of activities aimed at preventing digital gambling in young people and adolescents. Furthermore, together with the authors of the project, deputies Edgar Domínguez (Tartagal) and Carlos Jorge (Cerrillos), Da Souza Correa and his team analyzed the scope of the proposal.

“We value the commitment assumed by our legislators regarding this problem that affects our youth,” said Da Souza.

In addition, he highlighted that the campaign “Betting is not a game” is being carried out, which as the first stage in the design of public policies and from the Agency, together with researchers from the UBA, a digital survey was launched to know the impact reality of this situation and from there propose a response from the State.

“The study will make it possible to have a more concrete magnitude of the impact of youth gambling addiction,” he stressed.
