Through this initiative, the Boyacá Education Secretariat promotes the protection of natural resources and responsible environmental culture.

Tunja, June 11, 2024. (UACP). The Boyacá Grande government promotes environmental awareness and environmental protection in the department through activities such as the Boyacense Environmental Week, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.

The initiative, which took place from June 4 to 7, had the massive intervention of all members of the sector and the participation of the departmental administration, the National Natural Parks of Colombia, the municipal mayors’ offices, the National Army and the community.

During the event, different activities were developed that included topics such as climate change, solid waste, protection of wildlife and environmental education.

Additionally, recycling workshops were held, planting 20,000 native plants, animal protection and welfare days, as well as a visit to the Guanentá – Alto Río Fonce Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, an ecosystem with the greatest diversity of frailejones nationwide.

Sorida Ruiz García, Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, assured that this day was successful, thanks to the various topics that were addressed and allowed us to reach many Boyaca residents.

The official highlighted the visit to the Guanentá – Alto Río Fonce Fauna and Flora Sanctuary and praised the invaluable work carried out by the National Natural Parks of Colombia in the protection of this type of ecosystems.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the environment by promoting a responsible culture with the care of natural resources,” said García.
