PDI Tarapacá arrests subject for homicide with a sharp weapon

The Iquique Homicide Brigade (BH) of the Chilean Investigative Police (PDI) arrested a 31-year-old Chilean man, accused of being the material author of the homicide of a 23-year-old Bolivian citizen with an irregular immigration status. The crime occurred on April 20 in Alto Hospicio.

According to the PDI, the victim was attacked while walking at the intersection of Los Álamos and Esmeralda avenues, where the accused, without prior provocation, inflicted a fatal wound with a sharp weapon. The victim died at the scene.

Through criminal analysis techniques and various investigative techniques, the BH managed to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the homicide. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Court of Letters and Guarantee of Alto Hospicio for his detention control.

During the early hours of April 20, the team against Organized Crime and Homicides (ECOH) of the Tarapacá Prosecutor’s Office and the Homicide Brigade of the PDI went to the scene after the discovery of the lifeless body. The prosecutor of the ECOH team, Javier Gutiérrez, indicated that they were alerted by Carabineros from the Third Police Station of Alto Hospicio.
