The Environment and Natural Resources Commission of Entre Ríos met this Tuesday, June 11, to advance the treatment of two important projects. The first of them is related to the creation of the “Río de los Pájaros” natural reserve in Colón, while the second focuses on the organization and accessibility of the province’s environmental regulations.

Deputy Mauro Godein, author of the project to create the natural reserve, explained that the Municipality of Colón managed the ownership of the necessary land and that, subsequently, it collaborated with the Ministry of the Environment and CONICET to structure this new green lung. This reserve will be located in a strategic area of Colón, between the northern spa and the hot springs.

“The approval of this law guarantees the care of local flora and fauna,” Godein highlighted during the meeting. The project received a favorable opinion, pending approval in both legislative chambers. In addition, it was mentioned that the Municipality and the Environment Secretariat assigned technical personnel to monitor and maintain the reserve, ensuring effective control of the protected area.

In parallel, the commission also discussed a project by deputy Jorge Maier that proposes the creation of a digest to organize and make accessible the environmental information of Entre Ríos through the Ministry of the Environment. This project seeks to guarantee that all citizens have access to current environmental regulations.

The restoration of the Paso Birrichín bridge

In another order of issues, the Public Works and Planning Commission worked on the restoration project of the “Paso Birrichín Bridge”, located over the Feliciano stream, between the departments of La Paz and Federal. Representative Noelia Taborda pointed out that the bridge work has been paralyzed for more than 12 years, seriously affecting the inhabitants of the area, as well as the productive and educational sector.

This project also received a favorable opinion, with the intention that the work be included in next year’s budget. However, Alfredo Bel, deputy administrator of the Provincial Directorate of Roads, warned about the complexity of the current situation. “We are in a complex situation and we are even asking for a road emergency,” commented Bel, who stressed the need to design a plan to resume the work and seek financing mechanisms external to the province to carry it out.
