In Holguín they take extreme road safety measures with a view to summer

The Provincial Road Safety Commission in Holguín launches a group of actions with a view to the summer stage of 2024. Based on the behavior of the confrontation and prevention indicators in recent months, these measures are developed and executed by the organizations involved. in said commission: Provincial Directorate of Transportation, State Inspection, Directorate of Traffic, School of Road Education and the Provincial Directorate of Public Health.

In statements to the press, Manuel Leyva González, secretary of the Provincial Road Safety Commission, pointed out: “During the current period, we can see a tendency to decrease two of the accident indicators: occurrence and injuries; maintaining the same number of victims. fatalities compared to the same period of the previous year. In the province there are 28 deaths, 296 accidents and 310 injuries; which represents the occurrence of two accidents daily, one person dies every five days and two people are injured daily.

Leyva González also stated that the most affected municipalities are Banes, Moa, Rafael Freyre, Mayarí, Báguanos and Holguín. These six municipalities represent 85 percent of the occurrence, 92 percent of the deaths and 77 percent of the injured in the events that occurred on the roads of the northeastern region. The authority also said that in the last period the Transit Unit imposed a total of 9,473 notifications of Law 109, of which 9,021 were effective and 452 were preventive.

Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Rodríguez Marrero, head of traffic in the province, commented on the measures to be carried out during the leisure period: “A system of tours will be implemented throughout all the municipalities to clarify with the municipal commissions the actions with a view to the summer.

Driver records will also be reviewed to determine if there are any unpaid violations or licenses with terms close to expiration. An agreement was reached on the schedule for transportation and vehicular circulation to the beach area from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm; “a measure that will be complemented by the control that will be exercised in the terminals, at the boarding and alcohol testing points in the province.”

Likewise, Rodríguez Marrero asserted: “Regarding the use of moped transportation by young people without a license, hearings and training will be carried out in educational centers to be able to provide students with the regulatory document.” He also explained the severity of the measures applied to citizens who circulate with speakers adapted to play music at high levels, not approved by current regulations.
