You cannot talk about Teleavances without its famous face: Marta Yabor Ballbé. The program, which offers the television program to Cubans every week, had Martica’s seal since 1992, the year she became its presenter. The affection of viewers lasted almost three decades.

After only three years of being founded, Marta assumed the main role of the space, although her entry was to replace a colleague who could not present some broadcasts at that time. Her performance earned her a spot every Sunday on the Cubavisión channel.

A few years ago she left the program, giving her chair to the young Aleida Mestre, who is currently its host and who has managed to maintain, in her own style, the essence of Teleavances.

At 64 years old, Marta has not stopped working. Now, she dedicates herself to another of her passions: music. The artist is the representative and producer of the rock group Coverland, a project that she has been a member of for more than a decade.

Along with this dream, Marta has performed in various spaces dedicated to the promotion of rock on the island and has participated in some television programs such as Cuerda Viva.

The group performs music in English by renowned international artists and, in addition, has a repertoire from the Prodigious Decade and some Cuban songs.

Her work with musical groups does not stop there, since before, between 2005 and 2014, she was director, producer and keyboardist of the band Mente Abierta.

His passion for music comes from childhood, when he began studying piano at just nine years old in his native Ciego de Ávila. During those years he also learned to play the accordion and harmonica and was part of several vocal choirs in the province.

After this training, Yabor oriented herself to the world of the press, joining the Radio Surco station and later the state newspaper Invasor, where she worked as a proofreader, journalist and graphic archivist.

This work continued after moving to the Cuban capital, where he worked at stations such as Radio Ciudad de La Habana and Radio Cadena Habana. Later, he joined the ICRT, forming part of its Propaganda and Publicity department.

Those who have followed his career will remember that he hosted other programs on national television such as Quiéreme mucho, directed by José Ramón Artigas, and was part of the team of La Revista de la Mañana and the Cubavisión Internacional newsletter.

For her, as she says on her social networks, family is the “fundamental pillar” and “good friends” are family.

From that virtual space she keeps her followers updated on her career, now closely linked to rock and always accompanied by good friends. Her versatility has allowed her to move from radio and television to musical stages, a step marked by the affection of the public.

Always smiling, Martica is a tireless artist and an efficient promoter. Those who miss her on the screens will find an ideal moment for reunion where the music plays. She will be there and hers will be Coverland, giving previews of the best rock heard in Havana.
