“Official suspension of classes was established for the establishments of the Local Public Education Service of Valparaíso, for this Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, 2024. As a way to prevent any risk associated with climate emergencies and in accordance with the request carried out by SLEP of Valparaíso to the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Education of Valparaíso, we inform that classes are officially suspended for this Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, 2024,” the local SLEP reported.
“We call on our communities to take the necessary precautions to protect their integrity in the context of the bad weather front that affects our country, since the well-being of students, their families and our officials is a priority. Valparaíso Public Education and Juan Fernández, we all built it,” they noted.
The Municipal Corporation of Viña del Mar announced the suspension of classes for Thursday and Friday, June 14 and 15 respectively, due to the frontal system announced for the Valparaíso region. Through a statement, it was reported that the measure aims to “care for the integrity of educational communities in municipal schools and high schools.”
Quilpué has also suspended classes, “in view of the rain forecast announced for this Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, we inform you of the suspension of classes for schools, high schools and municipal gardens in the commune.” La Cruz also joined this measure.
