Javier Ruiz Rodriguez, veterinary doctor and professional from Fedegán- FNG de Atlántico, assured this medium that The main objective of the project is that these six producer organizations, each of which has women in legal representation positions, can associate milk in the SENA Value Added Center located in Sabanalarga.

Each organization will contribute a daily volume of 600 liters of milk. This raw material will be transformed by SENA into dairy derivatives, specifically cheese, and marketed under the brand ‘Lácteos Atlántico’.

SENA, with its Added Value Center in Sabanalarga, plays a central role in this project. Its infrastructure and experience in the transformation of agricultural products are essential to ensure that the collected milk becomes a high-quality product.

Since last year, The organizations involved and SENA have been working hard on this project, in order to establish a solid foundation for its implementation.. However, it was not until this recent meeting that the price table was socialized, an essential element for the economic viability of the project.

In this table the ceilings of the base price of milk were set, in addition to defining additional bonuses based on the compositional and hygienic quality of the milkand establish restrictions for cases in which the established quality standards are not met.

This collaborative effort not only seeks to improve efficiency and quality in dairy production, but also to empower the women who play fundamental roles in these producer organizations. By participating in this project, these women are contributing significantly to the economic and social development of their communities.

Besides, The project promises to generate a positive impact on the local economy by creating a new source of income and employment through the production and marketing of ‘Lácteos Atlántico’ cheese.. This, in turn, encourages the consumption of local products and strengthens regional identity. (Read in WITHlivestock context: Transformation, the way to make dairy farming profitable)

“On June 4, a press conference was held in which a pilot was held for the presentation of these vacuum-packed products, with which producers can access markets. Some commercial managers from market chains attended this inauguration, in order to learn about the products and their quality,” explained Ruiz Rodríguez.

Finally, This professional maintained that Fedegán has been supporting this project, serving as an articulator so that people can relate and work can begin.
