Published in the Official Gazette of the province -on June 12- two decrees, one creating a special fund of $1,100,000,000.00 (one billion) and another through which 28,140 doses were acquired; It was a direct purchase but it is for much less quantity of vaccines than the governor had announced last February. He said that a batch of 200,000 doses was going to be purchased.

Through the Ministry of Health of the Province of Corrientes, the provincial State directly paid $1,100,000,000.00 (one billion) for the purchase of 28,140 dengue vaccines.

The number of doses is much lower than what was announced by the governor last February when much of the provincial territory, including the capital, was experiencing a major outbreak of the disease. Unless there are other purchase decrees that have not yet been published in the Official Gazette of the province.

Decree No. 575 of March 15, 2024 created the special fund for the purchase of vaccines and Decree No. 590 of March 21, 2024 was the one that authorized the direct purchase of supplies. Both measures appear in the Official Gazette of June 12. (See separate PDF).

The total of the 28,140 had a cost of $1,099,872,723.60 (billion).

The province of Corrientes is the third to apply the dengue vaccine for free, the first was Salta at the end of last year and then Misiones, which began in January 2024. Corrientes began the campaign on April 10 with an age group from 20 to 40 years, later extended to 50 years.
