With the well-deserved recognition of the solidarity and commitment of those who do not hesitate to provide their selfless contribution with the purpose of saving lives, the provincial event for World Blood Donor Day began in Holguín, which is celebrated every June 14.
Under the motto “20 years celebrating generosity”, which has distinguished the day in 2024, the celebration was held for a group of blood and plasma donors, by the Public Health system in the territory and the Defense Committees of the Revolution (CDR).
With the accompaniment of Arelis Marrero Guerrero, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Provincial Bureau of that political body; and Yunia Pérez Hernández, vice governor, she also distinguished organizations, companies and health areas for her contribution to the program.
In this scenario, the Ministry of the Interior, the Holguín Military Region, the Beverages and Soft Drinks Subsidiary Company, the Bucanero Beer Factory, the Raw Materials Recovery Company, the Lucía Íñiguez Landín Clinical Surgical Hospital, and the Military Disciplinary Unit deserved applause. of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Purnio Military Unit and the Pedro Díaz Coello health area.
Likewise, for the tireless support in their territories, the general directorates of Health and the CDRs of the municipalities of Banes and Mayarí were recognized, while these structures of the main municipality earned the status of Provincial Vanguard.
The space was conducive to highlighting the work of the Provincial Blood Bank, for being a guide in the conduct of a key program for the operation of health institutions, which at the end of May have benefited from more than 12 thousand donations.
The day regarding the date, which began on the 6th, has been marked by multiple actions to make visible and raise awareness about the importance of adding new volunteers to this noble and humanistic task.
