Carlos Hernán Rodríguez Becerra was re-elected as Comptroller General of the Republic to complete the 2022-2026 period in an election process carried out by the Congress of the Republic. Rodríguez Becerra obtained 265 votes in favor after the Constitutional Court ordered the election process to be redone due to irregularities in the previous call.

In his acceptance speech, Rodríguez Becerra requested the support of Congress, the national government, territorial governments and citizens in the exercise of his work. He stressed that the Comptroller’s Office must be a bastion of institutions and assured that he will exercise his position with total independence, working tirelessly to combat all forms of corruption without political bias.

During his initial management as Comptroller, Rodríguez Becerra implemented the Strategic Plan “A Comptroller’s Office with independence for change”, achieving significant results in fiscal control, administrative findings, fiscal responsibility processes, compensation for damage to public assets and monitoring of royalty projects. and OCAD PEACE. Among the notable achievements are the intervention in EMCALI, the recovery of more than $187,000 million in a coercive collection process against Electricaribe, and the surveillance of contracting in the Cali Mayor’s Office and the Imprenta del Valle.

In addition, it revealed irregularities in the SAE and provided an inventory of assets, declared the national impact of acts of corruption in the Aerocivil, and strengthened reciprocal legal assistance with the United States. He ordered permanent monitoring of the Hidroituango project and led joint actions with the Bogotá Comptroller’s Office on the first line of the Bogotá Metro.

In 18 months of management, the Comptroller General of the Republic achieved coercive collection of $1.87 billion and surveillance and control results of $9.78 billion. Through the “Colombia Commitment” strategy, the completion and commissioning of 452 works for $2.5 billion was supported.

Rodríguez Becerra has reiterated his commitment to the fight against all forms of corruption and the need for responsible management of public finances.
