The Anti-Corruption Unit of the Santa Cruz Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Efraín Suárez, former Management Advisor to the Santa Cruz Government, went from witness status to investigator status in the case of the alleged forged signature of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho.

Yolanda Aguilera, anti-corruption prosecutor, reported on the expansion of the complaint against Suárez. Efraín currently holds the vice presidency of the Creo alliance.

The extension request that facilitates the transition from witness to investigated was presented by the lawyers of the current administration of the departmental entity of the substitute governor, Mario Aguilera.

“Initially the complaint was observed, then it was corrected and the extension of the investigation was issued for an alleged crime of usurpation of functions against Mr. Efraín Suárez. We are going to collect the investigative elements and then we will see which one fits his behavior,” Aguilera reported.

The complaint was filed by the Vice Ministry of Transparency, to which the Santa Cruz Government joined. In it, an official from the Ministry of Justice is accused of having forged the signature of the first departmental authority, when she is detained in Chonchocoro in La Paz. The accusation also reached Camacho.

Both the governor of Santa Cruz and the notary They are accused of the alleged crimes of ideological falsehood and material falsehood. Prosecutor Aguilera indicated that the judge of the case will be notified and in the next week it is expected that the former advisor to the Government will be summoned to testify.

They question the process

In May, Efraín Suárez went to the Specialized Department to Fight Corruption (Delcc) of the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc) to give your statement as a witness.

On that occasion, he stated that the process responds to political motives by the Government to continue with the persecution against Luis Fernando Camacho and that he has used Mario Aguilera to continue to that end.

“It is impossible for the governor to forge his own signature, they argue that it could be another person who forged the governor’s signature and that is easily distorted. The procedural impulse that is being given does not try to reach the truth of the facts. “It is a hair-raising process,” he said.

In contact with EL DEBER, lawyer Martín Camacho, who sponsors Suárez, assured that legally there are no elements for the expansion and much less so that in the preliminary stage a probability of authorship is demonstrated in any of the criminal offenses.

“The complaint is a first phase, within the preliminary stage the Public Ministry may consider the rejection of this expanded complaint against Dr. Suárez and also the governor,” said the jurist.
