Risaralda was the protagonist of the third Organizing Committee of the Youth Games
- The inauguration of the first version of the Youth Games will be defined between Pereira and Manizales.
Pereira, June 13, 2024. The start of the first version of the National Youth Games is getting closer: in 152 days (November 9) the inauguration of these fairs will be held, which will be based in the Coffee Region and which have the full support of the governor of Risaralda Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa.
In the last few hours, the Third Organizing Committee was held, which was based in the city of Armenia, led by the Minister of Sports Luz Cristina López Trejos, who stated that one of the main objectives of the Youth Games will be inclusion, For this reason, several Paralympic disciplines will be played on a par with conventional sports, and there will not be a week’s break between them, as was being done in the version of the senior National Games.
“This was a Committee where we could move forward in harmony, making decisions, looking at advances in technical and infrastructure terms. In a special way I want to make it known that we are going to go with a model of games integrated into Olympic and Paralympic sports; “We had never had it in multisport events in Colombia, and therefore we will only have one opening and one closing, which will be in Pereira and Manizales,” the minister expressed
For his part, the Secretary of Sports, Recreation and Culture Luis Eduardo Duque Sanz, who attended as a representative of the governor of Risaralda Juan Diego Patiño, noted that Risaralda remains firm with its commitment to have the stages ready for the stipulated dates.
“The main conclusion of this Organizing Committee is that handball will be in Risaralda, and will be hosted at the Dosquebradas Coliseum; We are strong in this sport. The second news is that the sports implementation, after the Games, will be left to the territorial entities,” concluded Duque Sanz.
This Friday, June 13, Minister López and her work team will be visiting the different sports venues in the city of Pereira, including the major coliseum, the minor coliseum, tennis courts and archery field.
