The governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejoawarded a 30% increase in the fees of those hired in the province. The increase applies from June of 2024.
He decree No. 1,042 of the Ministry of Government, Infrastructure and Territorial Development ensures that the calculation basis for the increase is the fees corresponding to the previous month.
And it applies to contracts that meet the following conditions:
- Contract for the Location of Works or Services, Fees determined in Sports Module Hours or any other form of contracting.
- That they are financed with General Revenues or with Affected Resources, except those cases financed with financing 18 – Fees for Health Service. In the case of the affected resources, the increase may be granted to the extent permitted by the effective collection of its resources. In the case of other Entities (Character 5), regardless of their financing, the increase may be granted to the extent permitted by the effective collection of their resources.
- That the contract is valid for at least 60 days.
The arguments that the Government gave for the increase
Since joint agreements do not involve those hired, it is the Ministry of Government that determines the increases directly.
“Given the way in which the aforementioned contracts are linked, it is not appropriate for the same joint discussion to determine the increases that may apply,” the decree reads in the arguments.
Regarding the percentage, Government Minister Natalio Mema and Governor Cornejo considered that “It is reasonable, timely and convenient to grant an increase of 30% starting in June 2024, in order to address the situation of these contractstaking into consideration the macroeconomic situation and always within the real financial and budgetary possibilities of the Province.”
