«I dream that Tango returns to the big stages»

Ian Ferioli It is part of the new Tango scene nationwide. On Saturday, July 6 at 9 p.m. he will perform with his orchestra in Santa Rosa, The Pampain it CC Medasur. His dream today, at 24 years old, is for Tango to return to the great stages of the country.

Ian was born in a small town in southern Cordova, Lions. For 5 years she has lived in the Buenos aires city, “in the big city, in search of the dream”.

Identitango It is the album he will be presenting. A repertoire that embraces tango in different periods up to the present day, with compositions by great references of contemporary tango such as Eladia Blázquez, Chico Novarro, Horacio Ferrer, Astor Piazzolla, Raul Garelloclassics of our citizen music and versions of other genres close to tango, with original arrangements and an orchestra formed especially for this project: Santiago Diaz Garcés on guitar, arrangements and direction, Diana Ginzburg on piano, Florencia Amengual on bandoneon, Juan Ignacio De Abreu on bass, and Horacio Moreno on drums.

A little about his life Music is full time for him. “It’s Passion, it’s discipline”he said in a talk with #LPN, «in each of its stages: diffusion, production, rehearsal, composition, going out to find new spaces to play. It is a great achievement to be able to do it.”

How did music come into your life?

—The music embraced me. When I was 4 years old my brother died. I didn’t speak for a while. Music made me communicate again. I have a marked moment: in first grade, first school. My music teacher started singing «song for my death« of Sui Generis and it was such a great emotion for me… those chords, those lyrics, were the driving force for me to decide to sing. There I decided to embrace the music as it embraced me, and walk together.

«In November of last year we did a theater in Buenos Aires, my first theater in the capital, at 24 years old, it was wonderful.»

How did you get into Tango?

—It is a memory that I treasure very much. Tango was always at home. My father is a great me’lonmao. One day playing with records I heard a Roberto Goyenehce record, and my feeling was “I don’t know what that is, but I want to do it.” Especially with a song – which is in the repertoire and we are going to sing in Santa Rosa -: «orange in bloom«. I remember the lyrics. The same day I discovered another topic Chestnut Chub «Throat with sand» -that we are also going to do it-, that I discover what I wanted to do with my life.

What captures you about Tango?

— Musically we have a wonderful, stainless Tango repertoire. All the world’s great orchestras and soloists have tango in their repertoires. Great soloists in the world have recorded Tango. Stainless works: Piazzolla, Gardel. Music that greatly describes our landscape, our way of living, and continues to excite us. That’s one of the great things about this genre.

And what is the Tango scene like today in Argentina?

— Tango in the world is a super recognized genre. There are great festivals in Europe and Asia, but in Argentina it has lost ground. It is not present in the Sun partynor in Cosquin, it is something that has to happen, a revolution from producers, dancers, singers. A renovation is needed. Letters that describe our current situation, new landscapes.

A song? Goodbye Noninoof Piazzolla, a modern song that musically and lyrically describes Argentina. Another one that marked me a lot mud maybeof Spinetta. I’ve been listening a lot lately. Everything changesof Merecdes Sosa a song that today is making me think and reflect.

An artist? Rubén Juarez, Roberto Goyeneche, Astor Piazzola, Rodolfo Mederos, Mercedes Sosa, Charly García, Víctor Jara, Violeta Parra. All Latin American popular music artists.

On Saturday, July 6, it will be presented at Santa Rosaalong with his orchestra as part of a tour throughout the country. «I was born in a small city…for me it is a very special experience to travel through the interior of the country. Meet new people, new audiences, new experiences. It will be my first presentation in La Pampa. “It will be a show with a lot of emotion with a lot of dedication, I’m sure you won’t regret it.”
