Santa Fe reinforces road controls on routes in the province during the long weekend

The Provincial Road Safety Agency (APSV) will reinforce prevention in the main corridors of the province of Santa Fe during the long weekend, when Vehicular traffic is expected to increase significantly.

With the aim of acting to prevent road accidents, the provincial body coordinated procedures which will be in charge of the Road Safety Police (PSV), and dissemination actions that aim to contribute to raising awareness in drivingespecially on these dates.

Despite the poor condition of the routes, they assure that 90% of accidents are due to reckless behavior or maneuvers.

The Secretary of the APSV, Carlos Torres, maintained that “the controls aim to dismiss, avoid and sanction those behaviors that have the greatest impact on road accidents.” Some of the violations that are controlled are alcohol consumption, use of safety devices, required documentation (driver’s license, DNI, Green Card, civil liability insurance, proof of RTO), excess passengers in the vehicle, among others.

The checkpoints are located at the exits to the main routes of the province that Santa Fe residents take to the places chosen for rest. Of these operations Municipal traffic inspectors and the Police from various Regional Units of the Province of Santa Fe also participate. among other forces.

Accident data

According to the APSV Road Observatory, Most head-on crashes occur on dual carriageways.often with one lane in each direction, in overtaking situations, or because a driver crosses into the lane in the opposite direction.

In 2022, 36% of accidents with fatalities occurred without the participation of another vehicle: 11% of collisions against fixed objects, 9% of overturns, 8% of occupant falls, 7% were due to confusion and 1% of animal collisions, which accounts for the distraction factor on long trips.

Also in 2022, 10.5% of fatal accidents were head-on collisions. As a result of these events, 49% of the people died and 28% suffered some type of injury.

On the other hand, 9.55% of the accidents were rear-end collisions and multiple collisions. As a result of these events, 35% of the people died and 38% suffered some type of injury.

The key recommendation is not to exceed in prohibited places (with double yellow lines, on bridges and curves) and make sure you have enough space to perform the maneuver safely. When in doubt, wait, don’t risk it. Maintaining an approximate intervehicular safety distance of 5 seconds prevents collisions by having the necessary distance to react and brake or perform a maneuver, in the event of an unforeseen event.
