The co-judge’s argument was based on the ruling of the Constitutional Court that ruled on the process.

Felipe Córdoba, candidate for the Comptroller’s Office, during a hearing in the Senate.

The Council of Staterejected the presentation of the consultation of the National Government with which they sought that the courtrule on the requirements to be Attorney General, allowing the approval of professional titles other than law to meet the requirement of 15 years of experience.

This decision means that the possible aspiration of former comptroller Felipe Córdoba fell, since theformer official was the most interested in the Council of State giving the go-ahead to homologate the titleswhich he earned while serving as comptroller general.

A few weeks ago, the Consultation Room did not reach an agreement regarding this case, so for this Friday’s session,Deputy Judge William Zambrano presented the presentation to respond to the questions raised by the National Government.

The vote of the Chamber was 3-2,Therefore, the presentation to allow the approval was rejected by the magistrates that make up the room.

Sources from that court confirmed to RCN Radio that the argument used to reject the consultation was fbased on the ruling of the Constitutional Court on the Statutory Law of Administration of Justicein which they spoke regarding the position of Attorney General.

For the Full Chamber of the court, judges may have another professional career. However,The positions of Attorney General, National Registrar and Ombudsman are not related to the administration of justice.

“The rule of approval of experience included in said paragraphto occupy the other positions mentioned in the article is also unconstitutional, since a guarantee of the judicial function is that judges and magistrates have the necessary legal powers to exercise it,” the decision added.
