In the grain sorghum trials carried out by INTA Paraná, 48 hybrids were evaluated. An alpha lattice design with 3 repetitions was used. The experimental unit consisted of plots of 12.5 m² (4 furrows at 0.52 m x 6 m long). Most hybrids bloomed around February 15.

The climate of the 2023/24 agricultural cycle was characterized by a lack of rain during the winter and the optimal planting time, delaying the implementation of the crop until the month of December. In the critical period of the crop, 30 days around flowering, 167.2 mm of rain was recorded.

Although the average temperatures during the vegetative period were similar to the historical ones, there was a period of 11 days (from January 29 to February 8) with maximum temperatures above 35 °C capable of generating heat stress in the crop. .

At the stage of V3-V4 expanded leaves, the first colonies of yellow sugarcane aphid were observed. Chemical control was carried out every 10 days with Sulfoxaflor (30 cc ha-1) and Engeo (300 cc ha-1) (3 total applications).
