The Provincial Energy Company of Córdoba (Epec) presented its charging network for electric vehicles, made up of eight charging points strategically located in the province. These points, which will be available free of charge 24 hours a day, seek to encourage the use of electromobility technology in the region.

The general manager of Epec, Lucas Gumierato, stressed that it is important that the energy matrix that powers electric vehicles is sustainable. In this context, the provincial company is developing various electricity generation projects from renewable sources to ensure an energy supply compatible with these objectives.

In relation to the charging network, Gumierato reported that the company is promoting the use of different types of chargers to satisfy various needs. For example, users can choose to perform quick 40-minute recharges on routes in Cordoba, or take the opportunity to do other activities while recharging their vehicle at specific points, as well as using lower power chargers at home to avoid stress on the network. electrical.

In addition, Epec introduced a differentiated rate for electric mobility, aimed at promoting vehicle recharging during times of lower demand, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. To facilitate this process, the company installs smart meters that allow users to monitor their consumption per hour.

Regarding renewable energy generation projects, Gumierato highlighted two emblematic initiatives. The first focuses on “the development of a network for capturing and using the gases that are generated by the decomposition of organic matter from buried garbage. In this way, we will produce energy and prevent these gases from being emitted and sent into the atmosphere and becoming greenhouse gases.”

The other project that was highlighted in the dissertation is the sewage effluent treatment plant that the city has in Bajo Grande.

This initiative includes biodigesters to take advantage of the gas that will be generated and transform it into electrical energy that is injected into the province’s energy network.

Finally, the general manager of Epec mentioned the company’s biofuels program, which includes the launch of a biodiesel plant to supply and self-consume the public fleet, thus consolidating its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the energy sector.
