From the University School of Social Work of UCASAL, the valuable opportunity was presented to establish alliances and promote collaborative work with the Cascada Association and the original communities of the Chaco of Salta.

“Women of Chaguar, weaving sustainable economies with artisan roots” is an initiative directed by Ms. Vanina Maturana that proposes not only to promote the economic development of artisan women, but also to value and preserve their cultural heritage and contribute to the construction of relationships fairer and more equitable between different social actors. In addition, it offers the opportunity to Bachelor of Social Work students to put their knowledge and skills into practice in a real context, promoting meaningful learning and an enriching experience for their professional training.

Currently, this proposal is in the preparation stage for the formation of the team. “It implies knowing the territory, the context, the culture, the approaches with which we are going to work, interculturality and interdisciplinarity,” commented the Project Director.

The UCASAL project hopes to strengthen the work of Wichi women, providing them with tools for cooperative organization and marketing of their crafts. This will not only contribute to the improvement of their economic conditions, but also to the recognition and appreciation of their ancestral knowledge in the community.

UCASAL demonstrates once again its commitment through continuous support to solve social problems by promoting the joint work of teachers and students of the Institution.
