According to an agricultural climatologist expert, the first frontal system would arrive on Monday, while the second pulse would begin on Thursday and last until part of Saturday.

The rain has not given respite to the central-southern area of the country, nor to our region, since according to the agricultural climatologist from the University of Talca, Patricio González, “next week we will have rain again, between Monday and Tuesday we will have a first system, and the second between Thursday and Friday, which will be a little more intense from Valparaíso to Puerto Montt, probably associated with an atmospheric river.”

The expert commented that the isotherm of these days is not yet known and added that the “second frontal system that is expected from Thursday, and would last until Saturday morning” would have greater impact, both in rain and snow.

When asked about these frontal systems that leave so much rain in a few days, Patricio González explained “that in the 70’s and 80’s the rains lasted a week, and 120 mm of water accumulated in one day, now the systems have dropped its intensity to 40 or 50 mm in 24 hours, which makes a difference for the impact, because we must not forget that climate change has reduced the intensity of frontal systems, and the amount of rain that falls in a day
