Within the framework of the celebrations of San Juan and San Pedro, departmental authorities announced a reinforcement of security with the incorporation of 1,060 new police officers.
This announcement was made at the end of a Security Council that included the participation of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Army, and the Police. both departmental and Metropolitan of Neiva.
«We held a Security Council with the territorial public force, all seeking security for these San Pedro activities. We made a big work plan. We are going to use in the best way the Police units that are going to be reinforced in 1,060 new men for the city of Neiva and also a reinforcement for the rest of the Department«, highlighted Villalba Mosquera.

In addition to the police reinforcement, the governor reported on the collaboration of the Tenerife battalion of the Army, which will contribute to the protection of the main road corridors. «They are going to collaborate a lot with us in the protection of the road corridors leading to the city, in the road corridor that comes from Aipe to the city, from Tolima to Neiva, from Neiva to the south, and the road corridors that go towards the municipality of Palermo, towards La Plata,” he added.
Villalba Mosquera assured that the coordination between the different authorities will guarantee a constant and effective presence throughout the department, underscoring the importance of this joint effort to maintain security during the festivities. «Rest assured, all Huilenses and visitors in this San Pedro season, that Neiva and Huila in this special time around our Bambuco festival in San Juan and San Pedro, will be safe. There we also made an effort by the Government and the Mayor’s Office of Neiva to finance logistical aspects on a strong basis,” he concluded.
