The experienced Cuban filmmaker Gerardo Chijona returns to the fray. And he does it with a film that brings together a luxury cast.
The new film is titled “La Fiesta” and will show on the big screen the renowned actors Isabel Santos, Héctor Noas, Vladimir Cruz and Osvaldo Doimeadiós, who have given life to important figures of the Cuban cinema in recent decades.
But if that were not enough, recent reports on social networks include other popular actors from the island in the cast of the film: Tahimí Alvariño, Carlos Gonzalvo and Thais Valdés, who would thus star in his return to Cuban cinema after several years of absence.
There is not much information about the film, currently in pre-production, so far, but there are some comments from its protagonists on social networks.
“New work alongside these great friends and exceptional actors. I know we are going to have fun all the time,” said Héctor Noas on Facebook.
“There is only one thing better than preparing a good movie and that is doing it with friends, especially when they are great actors. So, my dears, it is blessed glory,” Vladimir Cruz wrote on Instagram.
According to the president of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), Alexis Triana, cited by Latin Pressthe film will begin filming on July 8.
Its premiere should occur next 2025.
Chijona (Havana, 1949) is one of the most important living filmmakers in the country. Among his best-known titles are adorable lies, A paradise under the stars, Ticket to Paradise and Esther somewhere.
If the union of all the announced actors materializes, “La Fiesta” could, without a doubt, be an undisputed success at the box office, and a true celebration for film lovers on the island.
