In the early hours of this last Saturday, a serious traffic accident occurred on Avenida Rioja, before Avenida Libertador, in the Capital department. The accident involved a Renault Sandero that was waiting for the traffic light to change and was hit by a Chevrolet Aveo. In the last few hours, it emerged that the driver of the second vehicle, which caused the crash, is an important authority from the San Juan Police Infantry. This is Nelson Ariel Otarola, who was driving his vehicle while intoxicated.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when a Renault Sandero, driven by Mateo Nicolás Burgos, stopped at the traffic lights on Avenida Rioja and Avenida Libertador waiting for the traffic light to change. A few seconds later, the vehicle was hit in the rear by a Chevrolet Aveo, driven by the high command of the Police, which when passing through the breathalyzer control registered, that is, four times more than the permitted limit.
According to official information, in the Renault Sandero, Burgos was traveling with two more companions, identified as Lucas Nazareno Guzmán Guevara and Rodrigo Javier Carrizo. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported among the occupants.

The coordinator of the UFI Special Crimes, Iván Grassi, and the prosecutor’s assistant, Victoria Martín, along with personnel from the 3rd Police Station, were in charge of the investigation. The damage to both cars was significant and the police could be prosecuted for driving while intoxicated.
