From 6:30 this morning, the road from Paipa to Villapinzón will be closed for the development of the second stage of version 74 of the Vuelta a Colombia.
For the second stage of the Vuelta a Colombia, which will be run this Sunday between Paipa – Tunja – Ventaquemada – Villapinzón in 139.3 kilometers, the north-south lane of the dual carriageway will be closed from the beginning of the morning until after noon.
The traffic restriction on the road that leads from Paipa to Bogotá will be in place from 6:30 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon, with sections opening as the last cyclist in the lot advances.
In this way, the most important competition in the sport of cranks in our country includes in its 74th version the prologue and two of its nine stages in Boyacá.
In total it will be a route of more than 1,295 kilometers passing through departments such as Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Caldas, Risaralda, Valle and Antioquia with a true spectacle for cycling lovers.
But as is logical, the transit of cyclists requires a whole range of logistics and operations that includes road closures that in the case of Boyacá began this Friday, but will affect long highway journeys this Saturday and Sunday in two important corridors.
The prologue of the Vuelta a Colombia 2024 took place this Friday between the El Chivoreño Restaurant – to the main park of Macanal (7.4 km), between 12:00 noon and 2:00 in the afternoon, with a total of 176 cyclists among whom will be the successor of Miguel Ángel López from Boyacá, who was crowned champion of the race in 2023.
Yesterday the closure occurred for the first stage that started from the municipality of Guateque to continue on the route – Macheta – Sisga – Chocontá – Villapinzón – Ventaquemada – Tunja bypass to Cómbita crossing – Tunja variant return – Tunja Terminal – Oreja via Chivatá – 151.4 kilometers and which ended up leaving as the winner Adrian Bustamante from Boyacá, who is a native of Boavita and races for the GW Erco Shimano team.
