The Cuban priest Alberto Reyes He assured in an interview that the Cuban revolution is already over and the government knows it, and that although it can prevent people from demonstrating and taking to the streets, it cannot prevent the people from longing for freedom.

Father Reyes, a fervent critic of the dictatorship, stated that Cubans want a change in the system, but that the government does not give them the opportunity to defend their position either politically or legally, because it has absolute power.

“When you miss Freedom is like water, which will look for a way to come out.. The people are waiting for an opportunity to take a step and live another reality; then you can repress me, but not prevent me from loving freedom, which will come,” she stressed.

Reyes, parish priest of the diocese of Camagüey, gave an interview to the portal CNCUBATVin which he revealed what in his opinion is Cuba’s biggest problem: hopelessness.

“He government has managed to put into the people’s subconscious the idea that there will never be a change, that this is not going to end, that it is going to be forever. We know that is not the case,” she stressed.

“People have no way out, the social-economic situation is increasingly difficult and complicated; the political situation is increasingly repressive, so it is like a collapse of the people,” he said.

The priest expressed that Cubans love their land, but He emigrates because his life in Cuba is full of problems and precariousness.

“How is this solved? With a free, democratic, prosperous Cuba. When freedom is the environment in which a society can live, everything begins to flourish there,” he declared.

“We need there to be tangible, real freedom in Cuba, to be able, from freedom, to progress towards the life that Cubans want to live,” he explained.
