This Sunday, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) has declared a preventive early warning for the Maule Region, in response to a series of recent weather warnings.

The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) has issued a forecast for this Monday that includes gusts of wind of normal to moderate intensity throughout the region and precipitation in several areas, including coastal areas, the coastal mountain range, the valley, the precordillera and the mountain range. Typical snowfalls are also anticipated in the mountain range.

Precipitation and snowfall are expected to continue until Tuesday of next week.

Weather Forecast Details

According to the DMC report, the expected rainfall is as follows:

Monday 17

  • Coastline: 20-30 mm
  • Coastal range: 25-35 mm
  • Valley: 25-35mm
  • Premountain range: 35-45 mm
  • Mountain range: 60-80 mm

Tuesday 18

  • Coastline: 10-15 mm
  • Coastal range: 10-20 mm
  • Valley: 10-20mm
  • Premountain range: 20-30 mm
  • Mountain range: 30-40 mm

Prevention and Response Measures

Given the situation and the increased risk associated with the meteorological conditions described, and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation of Maule, the Regional Directorate of Senapred has activated a Regional Preventive Early Warning. This alert comes into force from today and will remain in place until weather conditions improve.
