Roxana Gómez from Cienfuegos and Dayli Cooper from Camagüey signed the Cuban successes today at the Troyes Aube International Athletics Meeting, held in France.

Both completed their performances with records for the competition, Roxana with 50.69 seconds in the 400 meters and Cooper stopping the clocks at 1:59.40 minutes after two laps of the track.

The registration meant for the woman from Camagüey a reduction of 52 hundredths to her personal best, achieved just a few weeks ago in the most recent edition of the Cuban Athletics Cup.

Cooper is part of the group of athletes pursuing the minimum mark to reserve a place for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and although he has not yet achieved the required time of 1:59.30 minutes, he appears in a favorable position to access via the world ranking. .

After the Cuban, the Brazilian Flavia María de Lima (2:00.92) and the Rose Island representative Mary Almanza (2:01.73) now crossed the finish line, who does have a secure Olympic ticket.

Roxana, also with space reserved to compete in the City of Light, took the rally record to 50.69 seconds, a time unprecedented for her in the current season. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic finalist sets a personal best of 49.71 seconds.

The Dominican Anabelle Medina (52.65) and the French Camille Seri (52.72) took the remaining places on the podium, in that order.

Another one who had his best performance this season was Yoandys Lescay from Las Tunas, covering the 400 meters in 45.48 seconds, thus escorting the Australian Reece Holder, who clocked 45.19 seconds as the best for the event.

Argentine Elian Larregina came third with a time of 45.83 seconds.

To access the appointment under the five rings via the expedited route, Lescay needs a record of 45.00 seconds, otherwise he would continue depending on the ladder.

The Cuban performances on French soil were completed in the 100 meters for each sex, with third place by Shainer Reginfo (10.28 seconds) and fourth place occupied by Yunisleidys de la Caridad García (11.54) with her best mark of the course.

The recent national record holder – secured for Paris – accompanied the Ivorian Arthur Cisse (10.23) and the Colombian Neiker Abello (10.25) on the podium.

The next foray of the Cubans into European competitions will take place this Tuesday, through Sahily Diago (800 meters) and the long jumper Hayla González, other candidates to compete this summer in the French capital.

The options to classify by ranking will close on June 30. After that date, the lists that so far include nine exponents from the Greater Antilles will be made official.
