After receiving seven reports from residents in rural areas about areas affected by the rains, the Ibagué Mayor’s Office activated an action route to address each affected point. The townships 3, 8 and 17 were visited by the municipal Administration and machinery is already operating in the first two.

“By direction of our Mayor, we are in a rural area reviewing the effects presented. We have achieved the intervention of some of the points so that farmers can transit and market their products. “Workers, engineers, community leaders and administration officials are present at the emergency site.”explained Cristian David Ávila, secretary in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Likewise, the characterization of the properties where their crops were damaged by the rains was carried out in order to link them to productive projects. So far, coffee and banana plantations are the only ones reported.

It is expected that during the next few days all of the reported points can be successfully enabled. Finally, the mayor’s office invites the community to report any landslide emergency by reporting it to the hotline 3155411011 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
