The province of Buenos Aires prepares new increases for tolls of the highway Buenos Aires-La Plata and the road corridors to the coast. The increase is expected to arrive in August.

The provincial Ministry of Infrastructure called a hearing for July 22 with the concessionaire Aubasa, where it will present “the technical, economic, financial and legal foundations of the proposal for rate adjustment and the quarterly update methodology“.

As argued from Aubasa, A new increase is necessary due to “the mismatch that occurs when update the prices of the main components of the exploitation, conservation, maintenance and support services items“, which is why he proposes “the use of a index “that adequately reflects the cost of operation in the current inflationary context and that allows maintaining the quality of services and the safety of users.”

This is why they presented a new tariff table that takes into account the percentage variation produced by the Tariff Variation Coefficient (CVT)the new reference indicator that “considers reasonably the cost structure of the companysince it weights the General Level Wage Index for registered workers (IS), the Internal Wholesale Price Index (IPIM) and the General Level Consumer Price Index (CPI), all published by INDEC.”

Change in the toll rate table: how much will the increase be?

Based on this calculation, promoted by the concessionaire, the toll rates of the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway would have an increase of 157% and those of the Atlantic Integrated Road System, which covers the routes 2, 11, 36, 56, 63 and 74, could suffer a 137% increase.

In this way, the minimum peak hour rate for cars could jump from $500 to $1,300 for the highway that connects the City of Buenos Aires with the south of the suburbs. While for tolls to the coast, the cost of tolls will rise from the current $1,800 to $4,300.
