The Chilean president’s words were very clear. Both countries have already declared that they do not intend to escalate the incident but keep it on the normal lines of the bilateral relationship. But there is a message that should not be well understood: Borders are to be respected.
Boricupon returning to Santiago de Chile, was immediately consulted about this episode and declared: “We learned some time ago that Argentina, by installing a military base in the region of the Patagonia installed some solar panels in Chilean territory. “We received an apology from the Argentine Foreign Ministry.”he explained.

When to remove solar panels
The Chilean Foreign Minister said – as Boric confirmed – that Argentina expressed an apology for this case. But Chile wants the solar panels to be removed from the place where they are located. The trans-Andean country says that they are at milestone Number 1 on the Argentine border. The site is in Cabo del Espíritu Santo, at the northern tip of Tierra del Fuego, where the border of both countries converges.

The problem is that Chile denounced that the solar panels, to provide energy to the border post of our country, were located about 3 kilometers within its territory.

At the level of foreign ministries there is already an understanding to solve the issue and Argentina admitted the error of installing them three kilometers within Chilean territory.. However, the problem now arises as to when, in fact, the panels will be dismantled.
The Argentine ambassador in Santiago, Jorge Faurie, said that at this time of year it is impossible to do so due to the bad weather conditions on the verge of the beginning of winter. The most appropriate time, according to the former Argentine foreign minister, would be when good weather conditions return, that is, in summer.
For the Chilean government, it is too long a period to wait. Solar panels must be removed first.
