Patagonia Biofestival: the renewable energy and ecology expo that was born from a dream, comes to Roca

A semester ago, the “Patagonia Biofestival” in El Bolsón was held for the first time in Río Negro. With a mountain setting and mountainous air, It was warm, embracing and reached hundreds of people. Now, the creation of Ezequiel Muguillo – which aims to generate a before and after in the population – moves to Roca and continues its awareness-raising journey through the squares.

The idea of the festival was born 14 years ago due to the need to create an event to show and propose variants and available resources for a more self-sufficient life, combat environmental pollution and promote the use and development of renewable energy and ecology.

“I lived in Neuquén and we did an event called Music, design and ecology in 2010,” recalled Ezequiel, an entrepreneur born and raised in Roca who decided to bring his dream come true to his hometown in 2024.

In This totally innovative and original expo can be found from a low-consumption stove, a dome and even an electric car. “We powered 80% of the fair with renewable energy with a hybrid system of wind turbines and solar panels,” Ezequiel recalled about what was shown as a fact at the expo itself.

During those days they meet not only large companies and manufacturers, but also small organic, agroecological, phytocosmetics, alternative therapies, bioconstruction and art producers. The expo has spaces for children, a gastronomic patio and talks and workshops on permaculture, mushrooms, beekeeping and even 5G.

“The idea mutated over the years and ended up being much more complete, perhaps because 14 years ago there were not so many renewable energy companies., so much awareness. We were evolving,” Ezequiel said in dialogue with Diario RIO NEGRO.

“The festival is to try to raise awareness about the use of renewable energy, the power to recycle, all the tools there are for reusing things and how harmful pollution of all kinds is.”

postulated Ezequiel Muguillo, organizer.

In The desire to continue expanding the biofestival is that Ezequiel made the decision to hold it in Roca, city where he was born and raised, where he wanted to return to hold an event of these characteristics.

The appointment is on October 18, 19 and 20 in Plaza San Martín de Roca, in the afternoon, from 4 to 10 p.m. approximately to take advantage of natural sunlight. There will be a gastronomic patio, a fair for producers and entrepreneurs and, as in the first edition, they will place a lot of emphasis on music, with bands of different genres.

Consulted by Diario RIO NEGRO about the modality to participate as entrepreneurs commented that in July there will be news.

A dream that prospered

«I am of the idea of dreaming, of believing, and creating. This was a dream for me, many years ago. I believed in my dream and I took care of creating it,” said Ezequiel. Thus, through initiative and push, he said that many people began to intervene to contribute to what ended up being a “collective construction.”

Ezequiel worked in a multiplicity of areas: he went through cinema, as an audiovisual producer, of musical shows, he went through gastronomy, the construction. Its ultimate goal and interest is to raise awareness. “We know what the planet is like and that we have the tools,” he said.

For The idea is also to communicate and leave an “optimistic message” which is that “dreams are possible.”. “In times where optimism is not abundant and where each person takes refuge in their individuality, we believe that the solution is collective,” added the founder of the event.

The first edition in the mountain range

The The first edition was in El Bolsón on December 2 and 3 with the participation of more than 10,000 interested people and about 200 actors involved. in the organization, between producers, companies, artists, food stalls, speakers and service providers.

A current campaign
